Hello Jade,

That sounds very confusing indeed. It must make you feel torn about what to do. From the way I see it, there is two most likely possibility of what's happening. Either she really likes you but doesn't feel her feeling reciprocated and thus doesn't want to express how she feels about you any further because it makes her feel vulnerable, or it might make her feel like she's chasing a rainbow. Or, she doesn't, and she had a situation with her boyfriend and was just trying to find an escape from the situation with you. I think to get closer to which one is more likely between the two, it's worth considering what kind of person she is.

You might think to yourself, if she really likes you, why did she ignore you? Well... I don't know for sure, but I suppose... Maybe she didn't expect you to ask. Maybe she just wanted to see if the feeling was returned. I understand it's confusing for you, considering the situation. And you were hoping to get some clarity. Otherwise, you'd feel like you're walking on thin ice. And it's valid. Cause it's indeed very confusing to be in that situation. But maybe you should also consider that you may not be the only one who feels confused about how to see the situation and feel torn about how to react to it.
