am i still a lesbian?
i currently identify as a lesbian because im certain i like women and certain i do not like men. however, i've noticed recently that can also be attracted to non binary people (usually fem-aligned) am i still a lesbian or am i bi?
Hey, fellow lesbian here! Sexuality is fluid and also something to keep in mind is that u can be romantically attracted to someone but not physically or vice versa. I totally know what you mean though, I feel the same way! I still say I’m lesbian but in the end it’s up to you. I find in the complicated situations sometimes saying I identify as queer is more favourable for me.
@funnyDog8378 that's entirely up to you to decide, as mentioned these terms are flexible, they're really just words we use to describe complex feelings. I've seen people identify as lesbian before if they also have attraction to nb folks, so it's not like it's "wrong" to have that label still. For others, the attraction to this different gender set is important for them to distinguish, so they may choose the label bi instead. So really, it depends what you're comfortable with and what makes the most sense for you
Have you heard of the term "gynephilia"? Its a sexuality where a person is attracted to females and/or femininity regardless of biological sex. Some people would consider this a form of woman focused bisexuality, but at the end of the day, if it is important for you to see yourself as a lesbian, you ultimately make that decision.
@ChipsandBagels gynesexual I think is the preferred way to refer to that orientation (avoiding the weirdness that comes with the "philia" suffix), although even then I think some people have issue with it and prefer finsexual or other labels :o (personally I have no issue with gynesexual 😉)
non-binary people that only love women/nb are apart of the lesbian community, just like if you were to date a non-binary person you would still be considered lesbian! but if bi is a label you think fits you better then you can obviously go w that! ~fae
