Gender Help?

December 6th, 2022

I need a term for this...

Sometimes I feel like I'm a male. Sometimes I feel like a female...but usually, it's not completely. Sometimes I feel neutral or nonbinary. Sometimes I feel like nothing. And other times where I just feel "gender", where I have a strong connection with gender but I can't describe what it is.

Can anyone help? I currently identify as genderfluid.

Thank you!

@justtio

Genderfluid is completely fine. Nonbinary is also perfectly good as an umbrella term for anyone who isn't exclusively binary male or exclusively binary female. Like for example I identify as bigender, but I usually just tell people "nonbinary" because it's an easier concept for them to grasp and get on with our lives, and only go into more detail if it feels natural to do so.

There are plenty of other terms, like genderflux, genderf*ck (the forum will censor it, but it's a real gender term with a rich history!), and genderqueer. You could also call yourself bigender or pangender if any of those terms feel appropriate. You could also use terms for parts of your gender, like male, female or demigirl, neutrois or agender, etc.

In addition to that, while you could use any or all of those labels, you don't need to be specific to be valid. Saying genderqueer, genderfluid, or nonbinary is plenty. While I use some of the microlabels more in trying to understand myself, and when nerding out about gender with other trans people, I find the majority of cis people prefer it on a "need to know" basis--they want to know what pronouns to use and get on with their lives.
