I don’t know what I am
Hi,
I’m 15 (f) and I haven’t had a relationship yet however, I think I’m starting to like girls. I feel like I’m faking it but at the same time, I can’t picture myself with a guy. I support LGBTQIA+ but my family is very homophobic so I’m not sure what to do and what I am.
@BugSbunnS66 Hi! I hope you are doing well! I want you to know that whatever you are feeling is okay and that there is no rush to figure out exactly how you feel. You can take it as slow or as fast as you'd like. I want you to be safe because that's really important too! Here is a link to something called The Trevor Project: https://www.thetrevorproject.org/ You can chat, call, or text with them and they can talk to you about how you are feeling! I hope this helps and you will get through this! ❤️
Probably best thing to do now is just take your time to learn about yourself, let yourself feel what you feel, and don't be too concerned with sticking a label on things or feeling like you have to know for certain or feeling like you have to do anything before you're ready and comfortable. What you are is just a human being who is in the middle of puberty, a time of change and figuring yourself out. Completely normal to be on your own journey and just be learning about yourself

I have a girlfriend, and i still feel like im faking it sometimes, so dont worry, it usually means you ARE lgbtq, just internalised homophobia and stuff, in my opinion. So, dont feel guilty about it, you have the all the time in the world to figure it out, and find a label you are comfortable with.

Don't worry about labels. Take your time, explore things with crushes in a natural way as they come up in your life, don't force anything. Don't come out to your parents if they aren't safe to come out to. I mean, you know them better than I do, and sometimes parents do get that wake-up call and come around, but I've seen too many LGBTQ teens' lives made *** for years because they came out too soon. The best time to come out to homophobic parents is when you're over 18, and either leaving for your own place or with the money stockpiled to leave on a dime if things get hairy. In the meantime you can gently work on their bigotry and try to get them to be more accepting, but only as an "ally" as far as they know, if it's safe for you to do that much. Be careful who you tell and who you come out to. It can be vital to have some people who know you're at least questioning to kind of stay sane, but not everyone can be trusted.
Especially since you don't have a girlfriend yet, this isn't an emergency or something you need to figure out right this second. Legal minors are at a really rough disadvantage in a lot of things in life, and your parents can basically make your life a living *** for you until you turn 18 with you having virtually no recourse. You are valid, you are legitimate, and if at age 50 you're still identifying as a lesbian you'll smile to yourself that you knew it at 15, you were just scared of your parents. I know this sounds really mercenary, but what you need to be thinking about is how you will get material resources--preparing for what your career will be as an adult, or getting your ducks in a row to get college grants/loans/scholarships in order to live on campus away from your family even if they don't want to help you with that. When your parents aren't kind and understanding, what you need is the material power that will allow you to protect yourself from the harm they could cause you. And realistically, no one has cash and freedom at 15. So now's the time to worry about how you're going to get those things at 18, so you can be as gay as you please and your parents can't do jack about it.
And like, if you turn out to change your mind and fall for some guy later? Getting your financial/college ducks in a row won't have hurt you any.
