I need help coming out as genderfluid and bi
Hi I'm Jamie and I identify as genderfluid. I came out to my friends and it was okay. They try to use my name but sometimes they slip and call me by my deadname. But that's not the problem. The problem are my parents. How do I tell them? I once told them about the identity genderfluid and my mother just laughed and said that these people are sick. Also she said that all bi people are unfaithful. This makes me angry but I still wanna come out, because it feels like I'm living a lie and being constantly deadnamed isn't fun. I also don't have the best relationship with my parents. Especially with my mother. She often insults me and has caused a lot of trauma to me. So can anyone give me tips?
@Jamie3005 Hi Jamie! I hope you are doing well! 💙 I can imagine you are going through a bit of difficult time right now deciding whether you want to come out to your parents. I know it can be scary! I think the most important part to consider is that you will be safe if you come out. Safety is most important. If you decide it will be safe, then you can decide if you want to talk to her about it and how you would best do it. I don't have experience with this personally, but I would hope that, despite her views, she would be respectful of you. You guys don't have to agree on how you view the situation, but you can still be who you are. I also want to share this resource with you: https://www.thetrevorproject.org/ It's the Trevor Project for LGBT+ youth and they have counselors there you can chat with if you need extra support! I hope this helps! 💕
