The real me?
Im not out yet. To many people anyway, but i just wandered if anyone else felt like there’s lots of different versions of themselves? I feel like I change who i present myself as so much depending on who I’m with, their expectations of me, their opinions etc, and it’s hard to know what parts of me are actually the ‘real me’.
anyone else felt like that?
@adventurousrainbow22331 i can 100% relate. My mum, im not out with so i have to make sure i say husband instead of partner or with my friends im out and i can be more like myself but then with my other friends, i have to say i'm not fully sure yet (because i haven't been in a relationship). I am 16 and have known since year 4. I act different with every single person in my life that i've actually lost sight with who i am.

I think almost everyone feels that! I remember being in my 30s realizing there were so many things I wasn't sure if I liked or if I just did things because I was raised that way. I still run in to things like that from time to time and I'm almost 50 :D I know I do a lot of what I think is called "code switching" where I change how I present myself depending on the situation but as I've gotten older, I've paid more attention to making sure I'm not changing my values when I do that. But that switching is really part of dealing with different people and different social groups, and not a bad thing in and of itself.
