@Brainydaps If you have such thoughts, it means you are trying to think differently, outside the box. You are right, it is a very strong tradition and it is supported by many and has its own meaning for everyone. But it does not mean that everyone should see the world the same way, right?

However cynical it may sound, in the messy world of today "love" is often too much about money, prestige or short-term benefits. Some people treat their partners as disposable paper cups or sanitary napkins.
But, yes, I hope that "the Big L", based on emotional and spiritual connection, mutual growth, respect and care, responsibility and loyalty, still happens 😊
And what is your opinion about that? Because your question sounds very general...
