I am not sure where to post about this issue.

I am 38 years old and my schizophrenia meds has pretty much destroyed my libido and sex drive. It feels weird, I cannot do it anymore.

@Slayer22

I appreciate how hard it must be to open up about something so personal and something so important to you!

It must be difficult navigating it.

Have you spoken to your doctor about the effects that the medication is having on you and possible solutions that will allow you to have  healthy sexual desires ?

It's worth exploring and not suffering in silence!

It feels kinda embarrassing, but I think my mental health is more important than my sexual ability. I cannot give up on these meds. But I am currently single so.....

Yes, one hundred percent your mental health comes first!

Has your doctor any tips that can increase your libido while not affecting your meds?

You don't have to be embarrassed here!

@Slayer22

It's worth figuring it out so if you meet someone, you can be happy mentally and also enjoy a healthy sex life!

It's a normal and healthy part of life and you deserve to experience it!

I genuinely wish you the best and hope they can provide helpful advice and alternatives!

Thanks

but it is not only issue I am dealing with. Anxiety and severe anhedonia is not fun, but thats another story.

Well, you are right it might not be so pivotal as long as you are single... Still, balancing mental health and overall happiness (or: satisfying life)—maybe it's not necessary to sacrifice one of the areas for the other—but let them improve together?

What's more, I believe that intimacy is far more than just a sexual intercourse: it may include tenderness, hugging, cuddling, to not mention the emotional pleasure of doing many different things together 😊
