The feeling of physical attraction

Hey everyone. I am Cube. I am a guy in my early twenties. In this post, I would like to share some of my thoughts and I would love to hear your thoughts on it! I have been thinking a lot about attraction lately, in particular physical attraction. Like, how it feels and what it means to me.

To me, physical attraction is not a purely sexual thing. I often have moments where someone's beauty triggers strong feelings in me, but those feelings are not sexual. I think for me, it feels similar to the feeling you get when looking at a beautiful sunset, or a beautiful piece of art. It feels like awe, but not like needing to touch or control it. I have often wondered if anyone else feels this in a similar way. I would love to hear your thoughts and/or perspective on this!

I am interested in all thoughts/perspectives, not just from men, but also from women! How do you all feel about this? All thoughts, opinions and perspectives are welcome!

@CubicCube42

Nice to meet you 🥰

For me, I cannot have a physical attraction, yes I can like the look of someone 😁 but for it to develop deeper, I need to have an emotional connection.

The attraction builds from shared laughs, chats, a touch, the intimacy builds through trust, being there through the good and the bad .

It's stronger when it's shared and a small gesture can heighten it, a look, a shared moment, it can be magical 🥰

Hey @Amanda84

Thank you for your response!

I guess for me that is similar but for romantic attraction. I cannot feel romantically attracted to someone without an emotional connection. However, physical attraction can happen and it is nothing deeper than finding someone beautiful to look at. I can feel physical attraction to a person I do not even like, but not romantic attraction.

Hi Cube, thanks for sharing your thoughts so openly. I can understand what you mean about physical attraction feeling more like awe or appreciation rather than a sexual urge. It’s interesting to think of it like noticing a beautiful sunset or artwork. I imagine that can feel both powerful and peaceful at the same time. How do you usually experience these moments—do they feel fleeting or do they linger with you?

Hey there, Words!

Yeah, these moments are often powerful and usually they catch me off-guard. Like I am doing something and someone walks by and it just grabs my attention for a second or two. I have always felt a bit weird about it.

I can't really say it is peaceful though. I always worry that even a look is already "creepy" or something. I don't really know why, but I worry about boundaries and "being creepy" very quickly, even though I have never actually crossed a line at all.

Usually the feelings are fleeting. I see someone, my mind goes "wow" and a while later, I forget. It is rare for someone to stay on my mind for longer. It happens, but usually only if I see that person multiple times.
