Hi Mindfulness Community!

I hope you are all well. Today I wanted to share with you a 5-minute meditation that I hope you'll
find helpful!

After the meditation can you answer the following questions:

1. What is your favourite kind of mindfulness exercise?

.2. What has mindfulness taught you?

5-minute meditation

Start with closing your eyes if comfortable or slightly open

Start with taking 3 deep breaths

As you settle into a natural rhythm of the breath, knowing throughout the practice you will hear sounds inside the room, sounds outside, these are no distractions, no disruptions, simply whats happening around us as we sit and breathe.

(30 second pause)

Begin to notice the mind as it wanders, jumping from thought to thought. Gently guide the attention and focus to the stomach or chest. As you breathe in feel them rise, breathing out feel them fall.

(30 second pause)

Simply continuing this practice, observing sensation of breath (30 second pause)

Notice the mind as it wanders. Release that thought, returning attention and focus to the breath

(30 second pause)

Breathing in, follow the breath in, breathing out, follow the breath out

(30 second pause)

The mind wanders, gently guide attention back to the breath

(30 second pause)

Letting go of expectations or judgments of your practice, just sitting and breathing

(30 secondpause)

Breathing in, feeling the stomach rise. Breathing out, feel the stomach fall

(30 second pause)

Learning to be comfortable in stillness

(30 second pause)

Knowing what it is like to just sit and breathe

(30 second pause)

Again, taking 3 deep breaths

Slowly open the eyes, slowly begin to move

This type of 5 minute mediation will calm your nerves, regulate your breathing, and reduce stress levels with daily sessions. With such a variety of meditation practices, find one that works best for you. Are you more of a visual learner or verbal learner? Try to find out what works for you for the best results!

@LisaDeRegtMBPsS

Love this. Going to use this on the train today when I get stressed.

I like the breathing and hearing meditations. I love a mindful walk using all the senses. I also enjoy picking a random object and really studying it using all the senses.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for sharing the 5 minute meditation. It really made me feel calm yesterday. I was able to fall asleep right away! My favorite mindfulness exercise is the mindful wake up and starting with a purpose. I like to start my day focused yet relaxed and it helps me do that. Mindfulness has taught me to be as kind to myself as I am to others. Thanks again for the great exercise and all the hard work you put into it. I will share it with others!

This is so great!!! I lost something this morning that was really important to me and I was starting to panic. I sat down and did the 5 minute mediatation and was able to calm myself. Then I was able to retrace the pretty difficult steps I had taken today (an 8 mile hike). I was able to find what I had lost (luckily after 3 miles)!! Thank you so much for this!!! I am really grateful to you. I will for sure do this meditation every day now!!!

Often we have such busy lives that disconnection is so important and welcomed! Disconnecting in nature is just beautiful and a really great way to connect with yourself too! Thank you for sharing.

@LisaDeRegtMBPsS I am such a visual learner-but also can learn from really good books. I feel so hmm ...rejuvinated after doing this. I think I do this anyways but my body just responds doing this right away. I really enjoyed this as well as my cat as she layed on my lap belly upheart
