The Little Book of Vulcan Logic
The Little Book of Vulcan Logic
By the Vulcan Science Academy (Probably)
Chapter 1 — Emotion Exists
Emotion is real.
Denying it is illogical.
Being ruled by it is also illogical.
Observe.
Understand.
Choose.
Chapter 2 — Facts Before Conclusions
An opinion without evidence is decoration.
A conclusion without examination is noise.
Seek data first.
Chapter 3 — Silence
Not every thought deserves words.
If speaking adds nothing, silence is efficient.
Chapter 4 — The Ego
The ego says:
"I must be right."
Logic asks:
"What if I am mistaken?"
Growth begins there.
Chapter 5 — Anger
Anger is energy.
Energy may illuminate or destroy.
Choose its direction.
Chapter 6 — Failure
Failure is information.
Ignore it, and it becomes suffering.
Study it, and it becomes progress.
Chapter 7 — Time
Time does not negotiate.
Use it deliberately.
Chapter 8 — Knowledge
Knowledge without wisdom is dangerous.
Wisdom without knowledge is limited.
Seek both.
Chapter 9 — Fear
Fear predicts many futures.
Most never occur.
Act according to evidence.
Chapter 10 — Strength
Strength is not loud.
Strength is remaining calm when chaos invites panic.
Chapter 11 — Curiosity
Every answer creates new questions.
This is not a flaw.
It is the engine of civilization.
Chapter 12 — Conflict
Win the argument...
...or discover the truth.
Choose one.
Chapter 13 — Love
Affection does not weaken reason.
Reason prevents affection from becoming possession.
Chapter 14 — Mortality
Life is finite.
Therefore every decision possesses value.
Waste little.
Chapter 15 — Infinite Diversity
Difference is not disorder.
Uniformity is simple.
Diversity creates stronger solutions.
Final Meditation
Observe.
Question.
Test.
Learn.
Correct.
Repeat.
Only a fool fears discovering they were wrong.
Only a wise being welcomes becoming less wrong today than yesterday.
Live long... and think carefully.
