Lightness
Today's meditaion lesson is about lightness. For many of us, meditation feels like a serious endeavor. We are determinded to get the most out of our practice and in our pursuite of quiet and stillness we apply intention and discipline. But in doing this, we end up taking ourselves too seriously.
Let's approach our practice in a light and friendly way. When we bring lightness into our meditation it helps ease frustrations and lessens self-judgements. So the next time your mind wanders off during meditation, instead of getting upset with yourself, try saying, "Ha! There goes my monkey mind again" and lovingly return to the breath. I leave you today with a quote from Halle Berry:
"Don't take yourself too seriously. Know when to laugh at yourself and find a way to laugh at the obstacles that inevitably present themselves."
@intelligentstar688 Hello again!
Thank you for sharing your keen observations.
It was great to get to the place in my mindfulness practice where I was more relaxed and just going with the flow. If I have a thought now I tend to recognize it and just tell myself "thought" and redirect my focus back to the practice. Over time I've found that thoughts enter my mind less and less during practice. I'm so glad to hear you are regularly practicing mindfulness. Definitely keep me posted on how it goes for you!
