@DanaMH A: My activities are reading, go outside and surf the web
. R: My routines are household chores
. T: My triggers are...well, I'm not comfortable tell you all yet.
@sweetrosa1987
Your activities of reading, go outside and surf the web are really great coping skills also!
A lot of us have routines of household chores and sometimes those are great exercise for us also to keep us in shape.
If you ever need to chat about your triggers feel free to send me a 1;1 message.
@DanaMH
My pleasant activities are gardening, reading, and crocheting. I find crocheting is easiest to be mindful and present. My routines are work and taking care of the kids. Taking care of the kids is demanding at times! But also very rewarding. Being present with them means not missing the good stuff. Triggers...that's hard. Um, my panic attacks are often triggered by bodily sensations (that are almost never really harmful). I have been trying to use mindfulness to help myself not panic over them. I have mixed results with that.
@exuberantOcean6739
Your pleasant activities of gardening, reading, and crocheting of being mindful and present is really important and are all so awesome. What do you like to crochet? What do you grow in your garden and what types of books do you like to read?
Your routines of work and taking care of the kid I agree is demanding at times to a lot of us. It gets easier when they are older but that just comes with other questions of where are they once they start driving but yes it is very rewarding experince. Enjoying all of the time with them is also really fun and not missing the good stuff.
For your triggers of panic attacks mindfulness to help I agree does work for a lot of folks and not sure if you try to do breathing in 4 slowly and out 4 slowly. Listening to music also helps a lot of folks ago.
I am not allowing mysself to be pushed into an unhealthy angry mode
@scarletPear1945
That is really good to hear and very proud of you for doing that.
@DanaMH
HI Dana thank you for this great check in
Well mine was TRIGGERS from work changes. You know we are used to a set schedule and same shifts. Well that is me. But my hours changed with a client and I was hot
At first mindfulness didn't play a part in this. But a bit ago I had to figure out a way to feel empowered. I just got a call from my boss and we talked and no attitudes. So I am more at peace for her reasonings why this change.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Sorry that your triggers are from work changes because I know a lot of us like our set schedules and live by our calendars and are kind of resistant to change unless it is a good change of doing something fun in our life. I agree sometimes we don't think about mindfulness at first and sometimes we just need to take a big breath, count to 5, and I was told it is ok to count to 5 as much as you need to before you say the words that you would like to after you think about them. I agree we do like it when we feel empowered in decisions.
That is so awesome that you did talk to your boss with no attitude and you are now more at peace for her reasonings of the change.
Hi Dana and everyone! This sounds like such a great way to begin to access how you're facing the present. I know I've been stuck way too often, in my own head, and It causes me to want to run away from all responsibilities without even trying.
So, here goes a new me, I want to work on focusing on the present and live in the moment.
Activities: exercising (although I don't do enough), listening to music, watching movies
Responsibilities: organizing my house better, go to school, spend time with family and friends
Triggers: unexpected plans/ visitors, being labelled by others (examples: parents calling me lazy, so I think I am lazy; and there's lots of labels when you're in school)
@Skyy0
Looks like you can't edit posts. Wish I could write a post in a small window ao I can see the other posts :( So I meant Routines, and I guess that still applies .I want to be organizing and cleaning the house, but no progess so far, so does that count as routine, no. I guess it's going to school, and eating with friends/ family.
@Skyy0
That is really good to hear that you want to work on focusing on the present and live in the moment. Sometimes when we have those thoughts we need to Turn the mind.
Maybe you can put exercising on your calendar which might help, listening to music, watching movies are all good coping skills also.
Those are all really good responsibilities: organizing your house better, going to school, spend time with family and friends which really helps with relationships.
Sorry to hear that you have those triggers: unexpected plans/ visitors are hard. I know I live by my calendar. When others label us sometimes they don't even know what is going on and sometimes we need to tell them or how they can help us.
My activities are reading and watching tv. My routine is chores which is a nice coping skill i find. Triggers come from nightmares and bad memories
