Mindfulness Daily Check-In August 23, 2017
Hi there, Mindfulness Community! Another Wednesday has come, and not only things may become more busy for you but noisy as well.
You may have kids yelling in your house, parents arguing, or construction work being heard from being outside. All of this can drive one crazy, or one can get so lost in the sounds to really pay attention to anything else. Mindfulness can offer us a way to not be attached to the noise and see it simply as sound.
Observe the sound and how it affects your body.
Let the sound go from your mind for a second or two.
Take a breath.
Now I want to hear from you, how do you try to be mindful in a noisy environment? :)

I work in an open room with about 10 other people, so it can get really loud while I'm working. At first it was really hard to stay focused on my tasks and I'd get easily frustrated by it. I started to meditate and learning mindfulness techniques to help me accept the background noise while simultaneously learning how to really narrow my focus, which made a huge difference. I don't even notice it anymore.
PS- I know this is a new group, but this is my first time posting here. I'm a huge mental health advocate/got involved with 7 Cups through NAMI. I'm glad there's a community for mindfulness. I think it's an incredibly valuable tool for recovery and wellness.
That's a tough one. Focusing on one object intensely (like we were taught in childbirth class) sometimes helps me.
