Mindfulness Daily Check-In August 31, 2017
Hello everyone! Welcome to the Mindfulness daily check-in!!
Today is the last day of this month and I hope that everyone is doing well.
For today's check-in, we are going to talk about "Mindful Appreciation". Let's do a simple exercise. All you have to do is notice 5 things in your day that usually go unappreciated. These things can be objects or people; its up to you.
The point of this exercise is to simply give thanks and appreciate the seemingly insignificant things in life, the things that support our existence but rarely get a second thought amidst our desire for bigger and better things.
For example: electricity powers your kettle, the delivery boy delivers you pizza, your internet connection lets you use 7cups, your clothes provide you warmth, your nose lets you smell the flowers in the park, your ears let you hear the birds chirping, but…
-> Do you know how these things/processes came to exist, or how they really work?
-> Have you ever properly acknowledged how these things benefit your life and the lives of others?
-> Have you ever thought about what life might be like without these things?
-> Have you ever stopped to notice their finer, more intricate details?
Once you have identified your 5 things, make it your duty to find out everything you can about their creation and purpose to truly appreciate the way in which they support your life.
Let me know your thoughts below!

Hello ! I'll try:
1) The rain which cools down the temperature. (it was starting to become too hot in my place). I don't really know how it works but I like rainy days, they give some kinds of atmosphere around.
2) The good dishes made by my father. Sometimes he shows me how to cook, and it's quite fun. Mostly the secret is to be patient. Kinda like fishing.
3) The internet connection which started to work better this morning. It's great since last night it wasn't very fast.
4) The cat who comes to see me multiple times a day. It's a bit annoying sometimes but she's pretty nice.
5) Youtube which allows me to hear and see many great works. And to discover new things
@Mablue
Hi there! Thank you so much for participating in today's check-in
I appreciate it a lot. I'm really happy to see the things that you have listed and I hope that this exercise has helped you appreciate the little things like rain, good dishes, internet connection, etc. that normally go unnoticed.
@compassion4you14
Compassion wonderful post and a reminder to appreciate the little things in our busy daily lives to notice. That those things are part of the "good" in all of us
Have you ever properly acknowledged how these things benefit your life and the lives of others?
No I have not-I simply accepted I just "do them"
Have you ever thought about what life might be like without these things?
It be a self-centered forgotten world-maybe
Have you ever stopped to notice their finer, more intricate details?
No. But from today I will start noticing these things a bit more
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Thanks a lot, Rumple, for participating in the check-in. I'm glad that you liked the post.
I'm really happy to hear that you would start noticing the little things from now and appreciate them because, as you said, they are a part of the good in all of us. I really admire the fact that you admitted to have never acknowledged the little things but you're willing to notice the finer and more intricate details from now. Also, I agree that the world might become a self-centred place if we do not appreciate all the little things that contribute towards making our lives better.

1. My dogs. I think I just take them like they will be here but they mean the world to me and I will do everything for them.
2. Nature also something that is taken for granted every day and it's in nature where I can recharge my batteries
3. Both my legs. Now that I only can use one I realized that is something we just think must be there.
4. Definitely the internet it connects me with the outside world and helps with my business
5. The ability to see the beauty in other and to tell them that. I for one always assume that thru my actions people know how I apitiate them and the truth is they need to hear it.
Hey there, @sweetMango91
Thank you so much for taking your time out to participate in today's checking-in and share a few things with us. I really appreciate it!
Dogs are truly one of the biggest blessings to the human race. I can see how much they mean to you and how much you love them. I agree that nature is taken for granted a lot- every single day, and it is the place that helps us to calm down and be more mindful. Since you are able to use only one leg nowadays, it has helped you appreciate your legs better. It's common for us to take those things for granted that we have always had and never had to live without. I really hope that your leg gets better with the speed of light. Also, internet is now an indispensable part of our lives and we really can't imagine a world without internet. Even I would like to take a moment to appreciate it. Lastly, I wholeheartedly agree with you that sometimes we feel like people will understand by our actions but saying it to them makes more of an impact.
