Mindfulness Daily Check-In March 4, 2018
Hello, all
A N X I E T Y is a seven-letter word. Its also an uncomfortable emotion that we all experience, whether we have an anxiety disorder or not. I recently went to a therapy session where I received a handy list of anxiety reduction strategies and ways to be mindful while feeling anxious. I would like to share some of them with you today:
1.) Saying aloud to ourselves, Im sensing/feeling anxiety/worried/anxious right now.
2.) Dropping our shoulders and doing a gentle neck roll.
3.) Giving our hand a massage (did you know this activates oxytocin?).
4.) Lightly running one or two of our fingers over our lips (this stimulates parasympathetic fibers in our lips, creating a calmer feeling).
5.) Take a bath.
6.) Forgiving ourselves for not foreseeing a problem that occurred.
7.) Cuddle a pet or baby or something soft.
8.) Try a guided meditation on YouTube or in our Mindfulness Community Library.
9.) If a mistake is bothering us, we can create an action plan of three bullet points for how we wont do it again in the future.
10.) Accepting that there are gaps between our real selves and our ideal selves (true for most of us).
11.) Scratching a task off of our to-do lists.
12.) Asking a friend or companion to tell us about a time when they felt nervous and what was the outcome for them.
13.) Search on YouTube for videos that we find funny.
14.) If we imagine a negative outcome, also try imagining a positive outcome.
15.) List three things that you worried about in the past that didnt happen like you thought.
What works for you when you feel anxious, and do you have anything that you want to add to this list? Also, it's Mindful March, so if you haven't already, be sure to checkout this post-- Mindful March -- regarding daily activities that you can do to practice mindfulness!

Very good tips to relax your mind. Training my mind not to keep going over the negative thoughts does take practice. Just the warmth of the sun when walking is very relaxing.
@EmunahHere
-pats Emunah on back- This is a wonderful post today
Yes I agree Anxiety is a weird,scary intense feeling. Also it holds alot of fears we have too. But good thing is we have all these wonderful skills to not fight or control anxiety but to maintain it and lesson how it makes us feel. I a lot of the times find myself automatically tapping my legs fast. I find that it does slow down after a moment. I forgot where I learned this from but my brain just does this now. Thank you for this new list on ideas
@EmunahHere This is a great list. Thank you :)
@EmunahHere may i borrow this for Anxiety team and create some sort of discussion out of it ? this is awesome
@CaringBrit
absolutely!!
@EmunahHere ty already got the title Anxiety & Mindfullness :)
@EmunahHere Hi Emunah! :) This is a great post, and the tips that you have provided are very helpful! When I am anxious, I do use a few tips that you mentioned, such as rolling my neck or moving a finger or two over my lips. I also try to block out anything that my trigger/worsen my anxiety by trying to achieve silence and mediate before using a distraction, such as reading or playing a mobile game, to help me feel better.
