Mindfulness task
Here is a mindfulness task that I find really helps, so I thought I would share it
I find this most useful when you are having worrying thoughts etc. but it can be used whenever
Okay so
I want you to sit on the edge of your bed or on a chair
Feet flat on the floor , back straight.
focus on your body for a second.
Stretch your neck and back and arms if you need to in order to get comfy.
Once you've done that , i want you to start taking deep breathes in and out.
As you breathe in , I want you to feel your lungs and abdomen inflating like a balloon.
Focus on how this feels, does it feel warm? cold? heavy? light? tight?
and when you are ready, take a deep breath out
Again, feel your lungs deflating like a balloon
letting all the air and bad thoughts escape.
again, does this eel warm? cold? light? heavy? freeing?
Keep repeating this for me
Now as you are doing this i want you to focus on your breathing and your body.
is there a part of your bodt that feels tense? Stretch it if you need to
and keep coming back to your breathing
It is natural to have other thoughts while doing this and that is okay
As these other thoughts come into your head or your mind drifts
just acknowledge that it has drifted and then bring your mind back to your breathing
and keep doing this
you may want to close your eyes while doing this
How do you feel now?
Has that helped?
@Natxx That really helped me! My chest and back were tight to begin and stretching them really helped. I'm also a little anxious right now (waiting for a phone call) but this helped make me feel more relaxed :) Thank you
This is helpful, thank you
