The Place

Today's meditation lesson is on our tendency to grasp. When we experience something we find unpleasant we tend to push it away- that could be physical pain, lonlieness, grief, or all three. We do everything we can to avoid and ignore it. Mindfulness encourages us not to push things away. It teaches us to accpet and stay with our experiences no matter how challenging.

We leave ourselves in a state of contant wanting- wanting a result, wanting things to be different. It's very difficult to be happy when all we do is want more and more. Tamara reminds us that our goal is to learn to accept our reality whether it be pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. Mindfulness encourages us to be present with what is. I leave you today with a quote from Michael Stone-

"Can we get to the place where there is no place to get to?"

@intelligentstar688 You have many mindful thoughts here! laugh So much of what you said struck a cord with me.

In particular you mentioned how mindfulness teaches us to "stay with our experiences no matter how challenging." That is so true and one of the great benefits, I think, of mindfulness - it's YOUR own experience! It's YOUR time. It's also a time when I'm alone (perhaps my partner might be nearby, but I tend to zone out hehe) and no one is judging me. Feel what you want, challenge yourself to feel the feels, hehe, and keep going even when you think of a million other things to do. It can be so rewarding! ✨✨

Thanks for sharing what you're learning and for being a 🌟 in the forum lately! laugh heart

@fearlessWriter78 You said exactly what was on my mind! Meditation is YOUR own experience! For a long time I thought I was doing it wrong but it turns out I was doing it the way I was meant to I just didn't realize it yet!
