Breathing Technique: 4-7-8

The 4-7-8 breathing technique is a way for the human body to enter a state of relaxation. It is a type of mindful meditation that can be used to calm down, encourage relaxation and help with sleep. To practice this, you must inhale for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds. This counts as 1 cycle, and it's recommended to start out with 4 cycles, working your way up to 8 cycles.

Breathing Technique: 7-11

The 7-11 breathing technique is another way for the body to relax, as well as to re-energize during the day. This type of meditation and breathing can help you regain composure and to de-stress. To practice this, you must inhale for a total of 7 seconds, and exhale for a total of 11 seconds. When starting out, you can also practice this as a 3-6 (inhale for 3 seconds and exhale for 6 seconds) if you find the 7-11 too difficult.

These are just some of the many breathing techniques and exercises that exist, besides the tradition deep breathing (long inhales and exhales). Practicing some of these daily can help increase your mindfulness and tranquiity! I would highly recommend them for anyone who would like to try it out :)
