MINDFULNESS: 7 PRACTICES TO LIVE THE PRESENT AND FIND PEACE.
We go through life always wanting more. We think about tomorrow, we regret the mistakes of the past and neglect the present, as if we were connected on autopilot.
Mindfulness is the way to be in life and to live consciously every moment of your experience. It is to perceive and feel the present moment with mindfulness.
We go through life always wanting more. We think about tomorrow, we regret the mistakes of the past and neglect the present, as if we were connected on autopilot. And when tomorrow comes, we feel frustrated because it little resembles what we wanted. Thus, frustration causes more anxiety, worry and stress, making us sick.
The ability to breathe through the diaphragm is innate to humans, but is forgotten by adults, while everyday anxiety, worries and stress build up. However, this practice can be relearned through breathing exercises, meditation techniques and Mindfulness training programs.
The Mindfulness - Full Attention practice, appears to help us find peace in this frantic world of which we are a part, to teach us to take one step at a time and to savor each moment experienced.
After all, the present moment is the only one you have to live and be happy, because the past has already happened and does not occupy our current experience. The future is just a projection of a mental image of what it might be and we have no control over it.
To live in the present moment you must have:
1st. Intention
Wanting to be mindful, otherwise we will be in a state of automatism in relation to life.
2nd. Attention
Attention always happens in the present moment and we can take it to what we feel, see, hear, think.
3rd. Attitude
It is how we look at what is present. In Mindfulness it is desirable that this attitude involves openness, curiosity, kindness and non-judgment.
Mindfulness Practices - Mindfulness:
1. Establish a formal daily mindfulness meditation practice - 10 to 20 minutes a day.
2. Do one thing at a time instead of doing several at the same time.
3. Perform your tasks calmly and really present in the moment.
4. Take mindfull breaks throughout the day - in these breaks contemplate your present moment.
5. Observe your mental process and recognize whether your thinking tends to be in the past or the future.
6. When you are talking to someone, be really present, paying attention only to what you say and the other person's speech.
7. Eat mindfulness - do not divide your attention between eating, watching TV or talking on the phone or checking emails.
Benefits of full attention: reduction of depressive symptoms, anxiety, stress and insomnia, among others.
Live each moment of your day fully!
Thank you.
I think this is going to be very useful. Going against the list, I find myself doing multiple things at once, not living in the present to reflect and not meditating. I’ll try to practice a few things from the list to improve and to live at the present. Neither future nor past. Thanks a lot for this post. 🤗
