Returning to part time work after medical leave...

After a 2 week medical leave (one of which because of a vacation for Thanksgiving...not medical) I am going back to work for the first time today. And I'm nervous. I only work P/T and 3 days a week but the medical leave was due to mental health related reasons.

I am nervous about going back to that environment again and not knowing what the stress level is going to be like (that's what had a detrimental effect on me before I went on leave). There are also other potential challenges for me this week on top of that.

I want to make sure I dedicate time to self-care this week, especially but the way my schedule is set up makes it kind of weird and the amount of time I have available for self-care (that I enjoy doing) depends on the day and/or the time of day.

I would be open to any tips from anyone on exercising self-care in this sort of situation of going back to work when there is still a lot going on in life outside of work. Thanks!

@munchiegoosie

I can tell you feel anxious about returning to your job, but one thing that might be really helpful is to plan something relaxing for when you get a lunch break. Maybe take a good book or listen to relaxing music or go for a walk when you get lunch -- something that helps you ease your mind would be perfect.

The other thing that helps me when I know I have a stressful week or day ahead of me is to plan something fun and positive for after work when possible. I like to have dinner with a friend or go to the gym or just relax with something yummy and comforting at home.

Good luck! You got this!
