Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Cards
I got these CBT cards (like a deck of cards) from a thrift store recently, and I thought I might share what they say, in case it helps someone <3
Check Yourself
Next time something bothers you, ask yourself, “What is it about this situation that’s so upsetting?” Try to understand the feelings as a personal reaction, not something the other person is doing to you.
**********************
This one was meant for me because I got triggered by something small today… It’s just my reaction, not the event, that’s affecting me.
Live Your Values
Who do you want to be? How do you want to live your life? Is the way you’re living a reflection of those values? Living in tandem with your values can help you beat burnout and feel empowered, even in trying times.
Feelings Do Not Equal Facts
Imagine if a loved one expressed negative thoughts about themselves. You wouldn’t get upset at them- you’d challenge those thoughts and offer support. Now, give that same level of kindness to yourself.
Eat, Rest, Sleep
Our physical health affects our mental health and mood as much as stressful events do. Take time today to care for your body: eating nutritious foods, moving around, socializing with loved ones, and getting solid sleep.
Forgive Them
Forgiving people who let you down is something you do for yourself, not the other person. How do you want to act in your life when people disappoint you? You’ll be happier if you can forgive at least some of the letdowns, some of the time.
Your Mission
What’s your personal mission statement? Like a mission statement for a company communicates what they stand for, a personal mission statement is about your values: who you want to be and how you want to act in your everyday life.
