seeking advice on songwriting

hi ! i write songs and think they suck. however, when i listen to songs i like or popular songs and actually pay attention to thé lyrics, i realise they're not so different from what i write. so how am i supposed to know the difference between good and bad writing ?

I think the best way is to just write whatever you think is good in the moment. If you end up disliking it, then it happens. Many of artists out there don't like some of there things, but there is always a group of people that love it and would die for it. Regardless of that, however, you should only write what you want to write. You will never be perfect, but that doesn't matter, because nobody will ever be perfect
