BFRB Self Help Guide
Hey OCD/BFRB Warriors! Here is my personal self help guide I've written to help deal with BFRBs- some of these can also help with OCD too <3
Some tips for overcoming BFRBs would be to see how long you can push it before you need to "fix" whatever is out of place or irritating your compulsion. See how long you can last and think of it like a game; see how long you can do it and try to beat your score every time. Train your brain to last longer and longer and longer until it's not a problem anymore.
Remember that your disorder isnt necessarily a bad thing. Its just a different way of thinking. Dont beat yourself up about it.
Finding alternative coping strategies can help. For example, some people twiddle elastic bands, or spinner rings, or special tangle toys like the one in the picture. I myself have had a spinner ring for 3 years!
Dont be overly focused on being pull/pick free. Set realistic expectations. These disorders are so so hard to get over! Video related here
Join facebook groups to find like minded people, or talk here! Remember not to share social media on 7cups, but there are loads of great places like Facebook, Reddit and Twitter to find other support groups, as well as this forum.
A great video for support can be found here
I wrote this in December 2016, back when I was recovering from the depths of my disorder- looking back now these things really helped me, but remember everyone is different!

I really wish I was able to reach out about this. I'm unable to witht my family and it always feels taboo to bring it out into the open. I'm sorry if it looked like I didn't read your post, but I did.

@Lucy I think we've been needing a BFRP guide for awhile now!
Will this be added to the 7 cups self help guides, or the topic list for chat help (hopefully you know the one i'm talking about, the listener one
)
