OCD like but not OCD

Due to this mixed bipolar episode, anxiety and some psychotic symptoms (bouts with disorganized thinking) some obsessive symptoms are occuring that are new in my 16 years of battling mental illness. I go into almost a trance like state. And either on my phone, laptop or both I constantly check my email accounts on a continuous loop. Or develop obsessions with other things usually online. A couple weeks ago I had a trance like obsessive state that lasted 14 hours straight. I sat at the desk in my bedroom that long. Right now I'm in that type of mode. I've laid here for 6 hours checking emails on a loop and browsing here on forums to try to find something to relate to. No sleep in 2 days. Barely food and liquids. And apparently it's not considered healthy to drop 17 lbs in around 3 weeks. No answers from the professionals. College starts in January. I need to get my brain chemicals balanced. I am taking my meds. That was my psychiatrist's and therapist's first question.

@TrueSight I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through such a challenging time. It must be incredibly difficult to manage these mixed bipolar episodes, anxiety, and the new symptoms you're experiencing. It's commendable that you're reaching out and sharing your struggles.

Obsessive symptoms can indeed be overwhelming, and I can imagine the impact they're having on your daily life. It's concerning to hear about the trance-like states lasting for extended periods and the effects on your sleep, food intake, and overall well-being. Your dedication to taking your prescribed medications is a positive step, and it's good that your psychiatrist and therapist are aware of your situation.

While I'm here to offer support, it's important to communicate your current state to your mental health professionals as well. They might be able to adjust your treatment plan or offer additional strategies to help you cope. If you ever feel comfortable, consider reaching out to friends or family for support during these challenging moments.

I hope you find the support you need, and I'm here to listen if you want to share more. Take care.

@Mya000 the mixed episode finally ended. Leaving me with depression and anxiety. Thankfully those symptoms are easy to communicate to my doctor and I already know what med he will increase. I have my weekly Spravato treatment later today. It's a ketamine based drug for treatment resistant depression I've been doing for weeks. It will hopefully give me a boost. Even though depressive symptoms are troublesome I feel hopeful. My self advocating does help a lot. It's so nice to have this community to come to. As a verified listener I encourage every member I help to come to the forums. Thank you for such a kind reply. It really helps.
