Question
I've been in a constant battle with my thoughts, I've seen a therapist months ago and they said that I could have OCD but I'm not diagnosed with it and I don't know for sure if I do. How did you know that you have OCD? What caused your OCD?
@starzgirlypop
I'm sorry you are struggling and I hope others experiencing similar might explain how it materialised for them 🩷

You could reply with something like this:
> I'm sorry you're going through this. 💜 Everyone's experience with OCD is different, but for many people it's more than just worrying. It's often a cycle of intrusive, unwanted thoughts that cause a lot of anxiety, followed by urges to do something to feel certain or safe, like checking, seeking reassurance, avoiding things, washing, counting, or repeating actions. The relief usually doesn't last long, and the cycle starts over.
As for what causes OCD, there usually isn't one single cause. Research suggests it can be a combination of genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and stressful life events. Some people develop symptoms gradually, while others notice them after a particularly stressful period.
If a therapist mentioned OCD but you never received a diagnosis and you're still struggling, it may be worth seeing a mental health professional again for an updated evaluation. Whatever the cause turns out to be, you deserve support, and there are effective treatments that have helped many people manage OCD. Wishing you the best on your journey. 🤍
Sorry for the long post. My sister had to help me get my thoughts out on this subject. I struggle with OCD myself and she is my go to for helping me explain what I go through on a daily basis.
