I am so anxious and compulsive. I have been with my boyfriend for about a year and a half. Hes great. Honest. Loving. Caring. And so loyal to me. I am having major bursts of relationship OCD. all day today I have been thinking about how i could be missing out on something better. Freaking out because I could be settling. But the next day I am so happy. I feel so guilty that I feel this way. I need advice.

So, if I am understanding what you're saying correctly, it sounds like you are really loving your partner and the relationship but that you also have some days where you are worrying that you might be missing something outside of the relationship? Almost like you are worried that you're missing something by not being single, if that makes sense?

If I am getting that correct, then all I can say is: That's okay. It is not unusual for people to feel somewhat.... suffocated or maybe uneasy or something similar when they're in a relationship that is long-term or new or really close. I do not know if this is your first relationship or your first strong one or what, but I can tell you that it's not uncommon for people to have those days.

The important thing is to not let those days break apart your relationship. Of course, if you are really thinking that there may be something else you're looking for, then you should listen to that part of your heart. Don't ever feel like you're stuck in a relationship or that you have to be in one - you are not requird to stay in a relationship if you do not want to be in it.

I think it can be difficult to gauage feelings about a relationship when you're having those uneasy thoughts, though. That definitely adds some confusion! If you're really wondering if this relationship is for you, or if you're happy, I might suggest making a pros and cons list for being in the relationship versus being single - could be helpful!
