Severe OCD/Scrupulosity

Is there anyone out there who can relate with me on scrupulosity? I pray and pray and pray and it takes so long to get the prayer right. I have to repeat things. It used to take hours, but now it has gotten a little better. It's still really bad though. I also have other forms of OCD like counting, "just right", checking, and list making. I'm diagnosed with severe OCD. I see a psychiatrist and a psychologist and I take medication. Does anyone else feel like they suffer sooo so bad? Does anyone else feel so much pain from this, like it's the worst thing in the world?

I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with this. Severe scrupulosity is exhausting and terrible. I have OCD and scrupulosity is my primary form. I've done the repetitive praying and a lot of stuff like that. It was really, really awful when I was a young teenager. By the time I got to college I knew what it was and I had coping mechanisms for it but it was occupying a huge amount of space in my brain that I didn't really appreciate until my psychiatrist pointed it out and said I needed to start seeing not just a regular therapist but instead one who specialized in ERP (exposure and response prevention, which is one of the main forms of treatment for OCD). Getting on the right medication and working with an exposure therapist made a huge difference. I still deal with scrupulosity but it doesn't control my life the way it used to.
