Anyone Expecting Now?

Hi. I'm a mom of two girls - 3 years & 21 months - and just found out I'm carrying twins due in October. I have the support of my two older sisters who live close by and my husband who travels a lot for work. I struggle with depression and anxiety and while I have found some online support through online parenting & pregnancy communities, it has been more helpful to chat with other mothers here about the emotional parts. I just wanted to say hi and see if there are other women who would like to be support for each other. Thanks.

Hi, I have twins too! They are identical twin boys, 1 year old😊

If you need advice, I would say the best advice is that you need a LOT of support. Taking care of multiple babies at once is A LOTTT. Especially when I tried to take care of them on my own. My brain was so stressed out that I started having seizures. I’ve never had seizures in the past and my family has no history of seizures. So please keep in mind that no matter how capable you think you are, your body will force you to shut down if you force it to work too much, especially after giving birth. And you do not want to have a seizure or anxiety attack while you’re carrying a baby. So please don’t push yourself too much and don’t be afraid to ask for help. It is impossible to take care of baby twins without help, especially when they’re newborns. I can’t imagine what that must be like having to take care of a 3 year old, a baby, and TWINS all at once!! I’m sorry but your two sisters and your husband who is rarely home probably won’t be enough help, you need much more help than that. We have 3 women helping with our twins, but it’s still extremely difficult and exhausting and a lot of times it still doesn’t feel like enough help. It really takes a village to raise a baby but for twins you need the whole COUNTRY 😭

reach out to family and friends see if they can help or find some babysitters and house maids to help with chores. There’s quite a lot of teens out there who are eager for work and would be willing to work for a low price. Definitely reach out in your community and do some research to see if there’s any resources if you need them.

Before you give birth, make sure you set up a schedule with family, friends, caregivers, maids, therapists whatever you need, so that you can get as much help as possible. You will not be able to do it on your own. You NEED help with all those kids. so best to set it up soon so you don’t have to worry about it after giving birth.

Also another thing, make sure you go on walks with them often. I find that pushing them around in the stroller until they fall asleep is a huge game changer. They had a hard time adjusting when they were newborns, but when they got used to it, it became a hugeeee life hack. When they’re both crying at the same time and you're panicking because don’t know what to do because you can’t soothe two babies at once… pop them in the stroller and go for a walk!

Also make sure you are getting therapy for your anxiety and depression. especially after you give birth, postpartum depression is the worst!

I hope my advice helps you out and best of luck to you and your babies!😊🫶
