For a long time, I felt like life was beyond my control. Other people’s actions and words affected me deeply, and I believed I had no power over how they made me feel. I often became sad, frustrated, and even helpless, thinking, 🌙“They’re just being themselves; I can’t change that.🌙” It felt as though I was stuck, letting others’ behavior influence my emotions, and it weighed me down.
Then one day, while scrolling through Pinterest, I came across a quote:
That evening, as I sipped coffee on my balcony, my usual spot to unwind, the phrase wouldn’t leave me alone. Instead of zoning out, I decided to reflect: Why was this thought nagging me? In that quiet moment, a realization blossomed like the first light of dawn. All along, choice had been my hidden power. Others might dim my spark, but I could choose to reignite it even brighter. They could knock me down, but I held the key to rise, dust myself off, and move forward, or I could linger in the shadows, defeated.

Exactly! Whatever happens in life, or to us, even if we don’t have a control on how it unfolds or sometimes even how it impacts us, but we do always have a choice~ to choose how much we allow something to affect us, and how we respond to it. There lies our super-power. 💛
There’s also a similar quote or message, that I really like, it’s hard to accept at times hehe and can even come across as “ouch that hurt, never be that honest with me” lol but sometimes we do ourselves a favour by being honest to self and holding self accountable.
It’s this- “You are not responsible for the circumstances you were born into, but at some point, it becomes your responsibility to change your story.”
“Born into” can also be metaphorical for any situations or circumstances life brings upon us~ sooner or later, it becomes our responsibility and should be a conscious choice to come out of it for our better.
It’s liberating in a way, to think of this. How we do have some amount of “control” when we can control and choose our responses and actions. 💛
