Hi, Dear Community! ♡ How are you all doing?

I guess you all might have heard that a couple of weeks ago we did a survey where we asked what kind of growth paths you all would like to see. And Depression was one of the most popular categories that were requested.

In today's world, Depression is a significant contributor to the global burden of disease and affects people in all communities across the world. Today, depression is estimated to affect 350 million people. We are so glad that we are being able to address that here and share each other's experiences to create those growth paths.

I am so happy to get the opportunity to work with you all and build the growth paths under the Depression category.

Here I am going to start the discussion and feel free to share your thoughts on it.

What's your experience with depression?

(These can be personal experiences, things people have said to us, books or ideas we have come across, talks or short videos we have found on YouTube, images that we find helpful, etc.)

What have you learned from this journey?

How are you coping with the challenges from depression?

I would like to thank you all for participating in this discussion and helping us on creating the growth paths under the Depression Category!

I've struggled with making friendships last and it has made my loneliness worse. There are days where I don't feel like doing anything and I feel like there's no purpose to my life. Then at times I get overexcited. I procrastinate a lot, and I struggle with completing tasks that I need to do. I am also more sensitive to people's words, and I get hurt easily. Criticism makes me feel really bad about myself, and then I hate on myself for being weak. I'm trying to break that practice and focus more on myself with care and not hurt. I think that meditation is really good for me to stay relaxed and feel better about myself.

I started struggling with depression from a very young age, and still do well into adulthood. I learned that it's non-discriminatory, and it can happen to anyone, regardless of age, race, gender, orientation, etc. It's important to reach out to friends or loved ones when you're feeling depressed. Isolating yourself often makes it harder, not easier, to deal with these feelings. And friends/loved ones can be a great reminder about what's good about yourself, and in your life! It's easy to feel depressed and alone, but when you reach out and look for resources, it gets easier to handle it. Co-operation is one of the good things about humanity, and when people work together, often times things get much easier.
