Thread for Tree & Slow (everyone else pls. pass by)
Here it is, @purpleTree4652...our thread.
Feel free to say what you like in here. I cannot guarantee I'll have solutions for all your problems, but I can probably come up with a few. If I can't then I will try not to sound like a Listener-bot ("I hear you...you are not alone...I hear you...) 🤖
Also, please don't feel like you have to get here every day or regularly. We both know you have a busy life; these days I have stuff on my plate too. I probably won't get on here every day either. When that happens, just take it easy. If you post something here & I don't get to it for a few days, it has nothing to do with you...most likely I'm either in bed with flare-ups, or absorbed in a project. Or else we're both bummed out at the same time. 😜
Now then...I have an appointment in a few hours, after the sun rises. I must sleep, somehow...will never get used to this world, run by day people.
@slowdecline48
Hi, J.,
It's nice to hear from you. And yes, I agree with all that well-worded stuff. :) Good luck getting up early for the doc. Couldn't you have made the appt later? The morning...ugh.
I might or I might not have 4 appts to see apts. tomorrow.
Haven't made the cats bed in two nights. Gotta go do that right now. :)
--D.
Hi, J.,
How did it go at the doctor the other day?
D. - It went rather well. I had to fill out a good amount of what used to be paperwork but is now data on rubber-cased touchscreen devices. My ears/hearing were tested. The thing is, while my main chronic condition is definitely legit, there is a possibility that the first ENT doc misdiagnosed me...it may not be Meniere's disease. But it's definitely a chronic physical condition, & a disabling one. So I may have gone over six years under a mistaken idea of what I have.
By now I've read enough material online by other chronic folk to know this is not totally unusual. One account I read a while back was by a woman who'd been misdiagnosed for 15 years before her condition was finally figured out...Christ on a crutch. *smh*
How are you feeling today? Any news in your life?
In other unimportant news, I ran out of patience for someone else on here about 20 minutes ago. She'll know it the next time she logs on.
I'd rather talk to you anyway. You, at least, are a grownup.
@slowdecline48
Ha ha. We thought of writing each other at the same time. I think I know who you ran out of patience for. I've complained about her. She has stuck her nose in my conversations so many times and with comments that did not have any respect for me.
I'll wait to hear from you.
@purpleTree4652 I've complained too, now.
...had forgotten how much I hate kids in general, because of how they act. That girl is a perfect example of it. She's 23 but from the way she acts on here, you'd think she is permanently six years old. These zoomers, I swear... 😤
@slowdecline48
I know exactly what you are saying about that person. She does act 6. But I wonder if it is all a lie. I wonder if she is really sick. And to be living where she is. Why? That doesn't make sense to me either.
@slowdecline48
I'm so sorry to hear that. It is *** news. I went through the exact same thing only for less time. But still, living your life in a certain way because you think you have a certain thing, sucks. Psychiatrists and psychologists and nurse practitioners, in LA, thought I had bi-somethin' somethin'. I don't even remember what it's called anymore. They thought I had that on top of PTSD and chronic depression and a chemical imbalance. So I was jjoining groups for people with bi-whatever, and learning all about it. Then in Florida, the psychiatrists and nurse practitioners ruled it out. They said it is only PTSD, the depression thing, and a chemical imbalance. It's like a shock. I mean, I'm glad they figured it out, but that isn't easy to go through.
Are you on disability? I am. I had the doctor fill out the paperwork when she and I decided that I needed it.
There is always major news in my life. It never ends. I just put in two weeks notice at my job. They have treated me very poorly. Oh, I told you about that. I got a new and seemingly better job. For the summer I'll be a grad asst. If my new boss likes me, he will upgrade me to a grad research asst and supposedly get me health insurance. It's a major coop that I got this job if everything works out. It is https://csts.ua.edu/. I am moving hopefully the first week of May. I am in finals. My new job starts on the 10th of May. Ummmmmm...my kitty and I are still happy together. :)
When I got the job, I splurged and bought myself $99 shoes. They are leather loafers. I also bought silver jewelry from my favorite jewelry shop online, Paradise Collection, in Hawaii. Silver is really cheap right now.
Ummm...I'm on a new drug. Oh get this...it cost $530 for one month and I have a $530 deductible. So the freakin pill is over $1000. It's rexulti. They started me on free samples. I called the nurse practitioner and told her to back me off it. But, they think they can get their practice to pay for it. They're supposed to call me monday.
Thats all I can remember right now. I'm sure there's more.
You lead an eventful life, I'll say that. Am unsurprised about your last job; decent ones can be hard to find. Particularly in some fields/industries, employees are one step above cannon fodder. That's one reason for high turnover rates.
I don't discuss my personal finances on here in any detail, as that's eyes-only info. (Even 7Cups is too public a place) Technically yes, I am disabled. As of now I can still afford my apartment but I know that will not be true forever... No one wants to hit the streets & I don't either, but at this point I wouldn't cry about it much if/when it happens. I hate the human anthill I'm in, for a few reasons. It used to be better, then the current leasing company bought the property & it has slowly gone downhill since then. I'll spare you the whole story.
Hi, J.,
I'm ok. I'm tired and happy tonight is my Friday at work. I work 10 pm to 2pm.
How are you doing?
@purpleTree4652
NOT! lol I work 10pm to 2 am.
@purpleTree4652 Wow...sounds like great hours to me. I've been nocturnal since forever. 🌚👻
@slowdecline48
The best part of those hours is not having to set an alarm.
So, how are you doing lately?
D. - Definitely. Funny thing is, whenever I do set an alarm on my phone I almost always wake up 30+ minutes before it goes off. 🤦🏼♂️
As for how I'm doing, good...for now. But this may be an expensive year. We'll see how things play out.
@slowdecline48
Oh no. What may be expensive?
@purpleTree4652 A possible treatment for the chronic tendinitis in my elbow. "tennis elbow", which is almost funny since I'm not a tennis player...
Right now I'm doing exercises at home for it. They help to an extent, as does a pain med that is not an opiate, thank heavens. Hopefully progress will come in time. If not, the possible treatment would include an injection...not cortisone. It's something else. One injection is incomplete but perhaps better than none; the full treatment is three shots.
You don't want to know the prices for the above options. Take my word for it. For the three-shot treatment there is financing available...but that means monthly payments. That means debt. I hate debt & avoid it as much as I can.
Hopefully the exercises (physical therapy, basically) & my icepacks when needed will eventually take care of the problem. It would be nice to be able to lift things over my head again, use my farrier's rasp for intensive stock removal (wood), etc. Sedentary life is for sea urchins, video gamers & sphagnum moss--& I am none of those things.
@slowdecline48
spaghnum moss. lol. dunno if I spelled it correctly.
I also had tennis elbow, many years ago. I don't play tennis either...never have. Mine went away on it's own. It was extremely painful. It didn't last long. The doctor said he didn't know what it was but suggested it was some sort of unknown joint disorder that was just being discovered. I didn't use my arm as much as possible. I can't remember what it was called. Hopefully your pain will stop, too.
@slowdecline48
I remembered it in the mid of the night. fibromyalgia. that was about 30 years ago when they were just starting to talk about fibromyalgia.
Do you have an ace bandage? I would suggest wrapping your elbow to mostly prevent you from moving it. and propping your arm in a position when you sleep to also prevent you from moving it. I remember doing those things. I know it's the opposite of what your doc told you. Could it hurt to try it?
I could give it a try...thanks for the advice. As I said, right now the physical therapy-type exercises I'm doing at home seem to be helping...progress is slow but steady. Definitely some pain reduction. What I've found is that while I don't necessarily have to do them every day, if I go too many days without them the pain comes back.
Maintenance...the older we get, the more maintenance we need. C'est la vie.
@slowdecline48
P.S. I usually get up ahead of my alarm, too. What's up with that? Is it our nerves working with the amount of light outside?
I'm happy the exercises are working.
Are you sleeping? I can't sleep.
The new job I got, was cancelled yesterday. The *** who hired me did a 180. He said he was exacerbated and this is too stressful for him and he spoke too soon and can't offer me full benefits. Then he said that he doesn't have the time to supervise someone. Then he said that he doesn't know what my skills are and he can't hire someone to learn on the job.
He called me four times in the last week. I wasn't even supposed to start working for him until the 3rd of May. He would tell me that he doesn't know what calls ring through to his phone because of robocalls. So when he would call I would try everything to contact him; called and left a voicemail, emailed, texted. And he still wouldn't respond. He wanted me to bring my private laptop to work and use that at the office.
I started backing off from this dude. I told him I wouldn't bring my personal laptop in. He said he never knew a student that didn't have a private laptop and use that because they were more comfortable with it. It was so *** up. By the time we talked today I didn't want to work for him anymore.
Unfortunately I already signed the lease for a more expensive apartment. eh, I hope I am still eligible for the apartment. I still want to move there.
I'm going to find another job. It doesn't matter if I live here or live there. So, now I am just waiting for Monday to talk to my new leasing office.
What a *** mess.
@purpleTree4652 What a f^^^ing mess indeed. But you did the right thing in the end, D. Even just reading the text here without any voice or visual communication, I caught some bad vibes about that guy. Anyone who's that squirrelly, who flip-flops that much, is not someone to be trusted.
Keep looking around. You'll find a decent job. The way I figure it, sooner or later it's a matter of odds. If you flip a coin twice & it lands "tails", keep flipping it & at some point you will get a "heads". The laws of probability are real, ya know...that is why casinos exist & make money. Because the people who run them know how to make the laws of probability work for them.
Speaking of money, I realized you told me of your medicinal expense while I didn't tell you too much in return. The injection treatment I spoke of a few posts back?...for my tennis elbow? A single shot would be $800. No, I am not kidding.
I don't want to sell my eye teeth...wonder if I can obtain someone else's eye teeth & sell those instead? 😏
@slowdecline48
$800! That's bad. But if it cures the problem, it's just an expense. At least that is what I keep telling myself. It's just an expense.

I'm not sure about posting in two places. I think I would get super confused. My brain doesn't always work clearly. So, I'm back posting here.
That sounds like a great idea to say *** it all to the world and go and have a day of recreation/relaxation. Do you like what you drew? r
chloe just climbed on me. she has an ear infection, i think. cant afford the vet. have her old meds from last time. poor thing.
did you draw or paint or use pastels? what was your subject? Ok, she's gone. Now I can type again easily.
How is your head now? Did the day of recreation help it?
That was way cool of you to send an email telling about the harrassing for your friend. I hope it helps.
I applied to Chick Fil A and they called me. I hope they hire me.
@purpleTree4652 Now I'm the confused one, after reading. 😆 Today I had a flareup & had to lie down for the 2nd half of my day, so no...that evening out on Friday didn't help my condition. But then it wasn't supposed to. So far nothing has except making sure I eat enough (it's easy to skip meals) & whenever it flares, resting & waiting for it to pass.
That's terrible about your cat. Do you have an idea of what a treatment for her ear would cost now? Maybe there's some kind of assistance you could qualify for that might cover it, or at least pay for part of it. Is the medicine you have for Chloe meant for a bacterial infection? (I suspect so) If it's bacterial, there may be something you could pick up at a drugstore that could help...antifungal cream or spray, maybe? I'm just reeling ideas off the top of my head here...maybe something will help.
@slowdecline48
I wish the flare ups went away easier than eating and lying down for a rest.
Yes, chloe has a repeated problem with her ears. Her meds have to be kept in the fridge, so I just use them when she seems to scratch at her ears a lot.
Time to comb the princess. :)
@purpleTree4652
I wish Chloe's ears could be fixed for good. Is she one of those cat breeds with permanently folded ears? A feature like that probably traps moisture pretty easily...
@slowdecline48
No, she is just a feral from LA with health problems. She also has skin problems, hence me combing and brushing her every day. I think she also has anxiety issues. I can tell when she gets nervous or anxious about something. She seems to pick up on my emotions. I love her. :)

@purpleTree4652 It must be nice to have a companion so in tune with you...
@slowdecline48
Not necessarily, because I'm so affected by PTSD and depression.
How are you feeling?
Eh...bit of a headache today. Was up almost all of last night. Mostly the usual 💩. I'd planned to get a bit done today but that's probably not happening.
You have chronic depression, too? It's the common cold of mental illness. At this point I'm wondering how many people there are who don't have it...
We haven't touched base in a few days. How are ya, D?
Also, yesterday I did a new piece:

'Stract
After using watercolor brushes for so long, I decided to see what an old toothbrush would do with the ink.
I'm pretty low.
How are you?
@purpleTree4652 What's going on, that you're feeling so low?
