Borderline Personality Disorder
Hi everyone,
I'm kind of new here and this is myfirst post so I do apologise if it's in the wrong place. I haven't been feeling quite myself for a while now;my emotions seem really intense and unpredictable, I've been self harming for sometimes no apparent reason, relationships with my boyfriend and parents can be quite intense - one moment I feel everything is perfect, the next it feels like everything is falling apart. Anyway, like most people with internet access, I did a search online and came up with loads of possible causes. The one that matched best was BPD. Now I'm just wondering where I go from here. I don't want to jump to conclusions or self diagnose. I just felt very alone and quite abnormal to be honest and wanted to know why. I don't have a counselor or therapist, just a GP who is aware of my pastdepression. I would really appreciate some guidance and advice on what I should do. My relationships and body are suffering and I feel very confused.
Warm hugs
Hi, AskAboutTheElephant. Feeling all alone in your struggle creates pain and heartbreak as it wouldnaturallytend to do for anyone walking in your shoes. If there is one thing I have learned in life, it is that human beings are more alike than they are different. This, I have found, holds true no matter who we are or where we are in the world. Human connection and social connectedness can alleviate lonely feelings and help to remove the sting of isolation.
Hey, AskAboutTheElphant. I'm sorry to hear you are having such a hard time with aspects of your life. That must be hard to deal with. We are all here for you. The internet is a great place and has so many resources for us to seek out. You said you came up with this from informtation from the internet and that you only have a GP. Do you think finding a counselor or therapist, will be benifical to you?
I'm always here if you want to talk (:
Thanks JustOlivia, I made an emergency appointment with a counselor before and she never showed up so I have kind of been put off by that experience. Many doctors where I live seem to label everything as depression but I'm certain that there is something else going on. I just don't know how I should go about getting a diagnosis and what treatment options are available. Kind regards
I share these same thoughts. I KNOW something else is happening besides depression but that's all it ever seems to get chalked up to. I hope you've made some progress towards a diagnosis since you posted this..
Ive been feeling extremely weird lately too very much not like myself and Ive been googlingtrying to find a relief and what is going on with me...I found that being stressed and depressed can cause you to feel quite abnormal so im not going to be quick to put a label on myself what ive been experiencing seems to be derealization...Good luck
I experience derealisation after every time I drink. I've decided my only option is to give up, even though I hardly ever touched the stuff before
I have de realisationepisodes as well. Mine just happen when they are triggered by loud sudden noises and shouting . It's horrible cos I don't really remember anything but I have bad feelings that last for ages
HiAskAboutTheElephant ,
Since some years I'm dealing with BD myself, and a solution is to controle your emotions. The best way I know is to practice empathy and love for other people, meditation and avoiding stress. With meditation you can learn to control your emotions, please contact me if you would like to know more.
Best,
Marta
Hello Amy890. I'm the husband of someone whom I think might have BPD. I've searched a lot and she has all the symptoms. I need help. I would like to chat 1 on 1 with you.
Anytime Roy, write me msg with some details please, I would be happy to talk with you!
Hi there. I'm new here too. I was diagnosed with borderline pd last week (albeit mild) and I too suspected that I had it before it was confirmed. I have never felt normal, never felt like a capable and level - headed adult, never felt like other people. I also go in and out of depressions. So I'm pretty sure I know how you feel, and it can be such a lonely place to be. If you want to talk about it, just reach out to me.
I feel your first stp on helping yourself was your admission of your problems and fears, as you did on this post. It helps. Good luck
