Borderline is NOT the same as bipolar

With being borderline you can multitask with your feelings/ emotions for example I can be both raging mad and happy at the same time...

bipolar means you do either one extreme or the other but not both together ....

i know a lot of people don't understand the diffrence so that is what I learned..

This is absolutely correct, and is a form of "splitting" that people don'tseem to get. For example, sometimes I'll push away my significant other and act cold towards him because I love him too much and don't want him to see me upset. Thus, I act unloving precisely because I AM loving. Many individuals who haven't experienced BPD don't get this thought process, and it is extremely important to emphasize it. Sometimes, our logic doesn't quite align with our actions, but that doesn't make it any less valid.

Thanks for your thoughts!

@SimplyBaroque ....

Hi. I just wanted to say thanks for your comment here. and for the person who created this thread - you are so correct! BPD and Bipolar are NOT the same. I personally have been diagnosed with both of them, but they are NOT the same disorder and they have different symptoms/problems/challenges as Baroque pointed out.

I would say that persons with BPD often have another diagnosis of some sort (called comorbidity) but that does not make the BPD diagnosis any less important. I agree too, Baroque, that my logic makes lots of sense to me, but others are like, umm what? However when that happens, I'm often afraid of attempting to explain to them. (sigh)
