Boundries

Does anyone here have trouble with knowing where to put boundaries with other people? I feel like I'm either too open with new people or too closed off, the situation doesn't ever seem to fit how much I say or feel. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to set appropriate boundaries?

Boundaries are so very important. Especially for those of us with BPD who struggle so much with it. Search YouTube for video's from Brene Brown where she talks about boundaries. I've found her interviews and books very helpful in learning about this topic and how to put it into practice.

I am getting into my 30s now and have been working on getting my BPD in a good controlled place. I thought I've worked on most if not every aspect of the illness until just last week when my mother ( who has been by my side through thick and thin, and has been my co pilot through all this) suggests to me that my whole life story and the whole store of my mental illness shouldn't be included in my introduction anymore lol. Let's just say I tend to over share. Yes boundaries....silly little thing that I have not quite figured out yet...

I have the same problem with oversharing. Setting and maintaining boundaries is a skill... one I'm also still learning. I also don't have it figured out yet.

I find that even when my symptoms, explosive anger, idealization, etc., subside, I still have a tough time navigating boundaries. I either open up too quickly to the wrong people or shut deserving people out. I also have a difficult time being assertive, I either stay passive to the point I bottle up and explode, or I have a nervous breakdown or rage out. Does anyone else feel this and how do you stay in the middle ground? Thanks!
