Getting attached too fast

How do you stop yourself from getting attached to someone too fast? I tend to get attached in the very early stages of a relationship. If I meet someone whom i find that i like and we start talking, i notice that in less than 2 weeks i start thinking about them the whole time, and i make future plans in my head with them, i fantasize about them and i definitely overshare, which is understandably distressing since i barely know the person i'm sharing my deepest secrets with sad i feel like i cant hold back and i go way faster than i should. I find it near impossible to take things slow. I'm starting to get scared of meeting new people because of the possibility that i might get attached again. Any tips please?

@redNorth640 hi there thank you for sharing. I can honestly relate to this 💓 I think getting attached to people quickly is one of the worse symptoms of BPD. Here we need to use the wise mind skill. We also need to put boundaries in place. Always trying to look at things in a realistic way. Often people with BPD idolize people and in their eyes they pretty much perfect angels this is when things can go terribly wrong. Which is why therapy and dbt skills is so important. Perhaps you can write a list of people you see in this way and then also write the boundaries down that you going put in place like for example giving them space, forcesing on other things such as hobbies. Maybe this article can help alittle more. Here they also explain the same thing you going though.

I hope that helps 💓
