If I have bpd??
I'm 15 and I know it's often to early to diagnose bpd and I know it's bad to self diagnose
But I'm pretty sure I have it
I learned about it a lot in past few months and I'm so overwhelmed
I'm relief cause maybe I'll finally find the answers why the fuck im doing shitty things
But I'mso scared that that can be true...
Can someone help me please??
Hi! Mmhm, have you talked to a therapist about your concerns about possibly having bpd? I think It's normal to feel anxious when we are struggling to find out what is happening to us, but talking to a therapist would be a good choice, or a school counselor if you can't have one for various reasons
Honestly, I'm going through the same thing. Everything fits, I have a relative with bpd, and it just makes so much sense. But self diagnosing is bad, and I don't want to bring up the idea with my therapist because I'm terrified that she'll just ignore my problems. It's sort of a see-how-things-go type situation. Hope things get better, try writing things down to show the extent of how bad things can get

I'm sorry you're having a similar experience of feeling like you're able to see possible signs of BPD in someone but you feel scared that it'll be shot down or dismissed if you bring it up. 💜
If your therapist is any good, they really shouldn't ignore or downplay it if you share it. "I have a relative who is doing some things that are bothering me and I'm really struggling with it and was hoping to talk about it with you. I've just been feeling confused and trying to make sense of it. I know I can't diagnose anybody, but I was reading about BPD recently, and some of the things I saw there reminded me of them or felt like they fit."

Hi there--can understand what you're saying. It feels like a relief to finally find something feels like it fits and explains a lot of things you've been experiencing or doing. At the same time, there's a fear of "what if I actually have BPD". Also, you don't want to jump to conclusions when maybe only a licensed therapist would be able to diagnose BPD.
I'm sorry to hear that it sounds like the person you tried to talk with basically minimized or downplayed your concerns instead of taking your thoughts and feelings seriously and doing a proper assessment. If you do have BPD, there are certain forms of therapy that many people have found beneficial. Even if it turns out that you don't have diagnosable BPD, some of those therapeutic approaches might still be helpful. Either way, there is some suffering you're experiencing, and I'd hope that a mental health professional would listen to what you have to say and care about offering support/help for that.
If it feels like it might be helpful to talk with someone on 7 Cups, HERE is a list of listeners who have been vetted by the community, have lived experience with BPD, and accept chats on BPD.
I'm so sorry to hear what your going through and especially at 15. But I'm also excited for you, I wish I would've been diagnosed earlier in my childhood and not as an adult. I'm also diagnosed with BPD. I found this resource, it's a website called emotiotions matter. Here is the email, you can ask for resource information and for a provider.
