I think I have borderline but my therapist thinks it's bipolar

I've been reading through both the bipolar forum and this one and I resonate better with borderline personality. I must have talked a lot about my mood swings last session because she wanted me to see a physiatrist and try mood stabilizers. She said that it sounded like bipolar and I told her that I had been doing some research on it and I thought it was borderline, but later when she talked to my mom about it (I'm a minor) she said bipolar and I felt like my knowledge of myself had been disregarded.

@Iamspoons In general, I suppose a psychiatrist would have more specialist knowledge of the various disorders, so seeing a psychiatrist seems like it could be a good idea. I imagine the research you've done will mean you can have a good well-informed discussion with the psychiatrist.

borderline, bipolar, ADHD, and cPTSD overlap so much, its sometimes just a label. health practitioners will avoid using borderline as its a huge stigma. if you're self cuting or otherwise hurting yourself, you have a clear answer. otherwise, look up cPTSD, it'll mimic pretty much anything.

So, both Borderline and Bipolar come with mood swings. The swings of Borderline are significantly more rapid than Bipolar. Borderline can literally be the "Angry at the world, hate a person until suddenly they buy you food and now everything is wonderful", whilst Bipolar's severe moodswings last at least 2 weeks (on. Average). Also, depending on your age, it's considered bad practice to diagnose anyone under like, 18 with Borderline because it is so difficult to separate what's Borderline and what's Teen Stress mixed with another disorder. I got my bipolar diagnosis at 15, and my Borderline at 18. Also, Borderline has severely unstable relationships (when not properly managed), and extreme reaction to abandonment. It's the "I hate you don't leave me or I'll explode". I also know some disorders when mixed with Bipolar can imitate Borderline. A Psychiatrist would be the best person to talk to.
