I was diagnosed this week.
Hello all. I'm 27. Life has been a rollercoaster to say the least. I've been diagnosed with so many different things over the years and doctors have tried for so long to figure out exactly what is going on with me. But this week I went inpatient (for probably like the 12th time in my life) I've also always done my own "research" to try to figure out what the heck was going on with me. And most of the previous diagnoses just weren't making much sense. Ironically, BPD was something I just never looked into, simply for the fact that my immediate thought was always "Eh. Probably don't have that." Well, I went in this time, and they "provisionally" diagnosed me with BPD. They didn't really explain it to me or anything. So I got home and read into it myself, and it slapped me in the face. It makes so much sense that they would diagnose me with it, because I experienced all 9 of the characteristics of the disorder. Just crazy how things work out. It's been pretty overwhelming, but at the same time relieving to finally understand what's been going on with me. I'm glad that there's a support group for it on here. Thanks for reading my boring post. Lol
Your post is not boring at all...i can understand how hard it must be all these years trying to figure out things and now it might be a mixed feeling that one way u know what it is which gives u some clarity and peace and the same time it might be overwhelming when u came to know about bpd in terms of how to deal and reading so much on net. But yes as u rightly said...support is very important and as a blessing there are many ways and types of support that you can get according to your way of interest and which resonates with you. I would request you to breathe and acknowledge all your feelings and its so natural for who to feel those from the postion you are in. And also appreciate for not giving up and putting that brave front all these years and more..and thats important as this is not permanent this can be handled with support. So seek the right place and ensure consistency. Ask yourself What are feelings that are coming up now?? What is the story am giving it my situation now? Can i remove my story aside and see what exaclty is infront of me? What are the choices I have ? What resources do i have to handle this? Whose support can i take to steer through this journey? Awareness is the first step towards our evolution and change..because change is the only thing that is constant for al of us. Wish u good luck...all the best and u can do this...
