Need BPD friends!

Hi! I got diagnosed with bpd two weeks ago, and I've felt incredibly alone. I have a supportive boyfriend and family, but it feels hard not being able to talk about problems I have that are related to my bpd. No one really understands why I have the feelings I have, and I would love to get to know others with the same diagnosis to vent, listen and talk about random things.

My interests are learning languages, gaming, watching netflix and getting to know others. I hope someone is interested! :)

Hi there, welcome here! I am really glad you have joined our subcommunity and I hope we will be able to make you feel supported.

I have also been diagnosed with (Quiet) BPD recently, I think I can understand how you feel at least to some extent. I am here should you wish to talk!

@admaiorasemper Hi! Thank you :) May I ask what the difference between bpd and quiet bpd is?

@borderlinepenguin

BPD manifests itself in different forms. It is not very well known, but there actually four types of BPDs: 1. discouraged or quiet borderline, 2. impulsive borderline 3. petulant borderline, and 4. self-destructive borderline.

When you have quiet BPD, you ‘act in. You feel and struggle with all the typical issues of BPD, such as fear of abandonment, mood swings, extreme anxiety, impulsiveness, black and white thinking etc., but instead of ‘exploding, you implode. Anger outbursts are not that frequent, and painful emotions and struggles are internalised. The aggression or irritation is directed towards yourself.

@admaiorasemper Oh wow I had no idea! Were you diagnosed with quiet bpd or did you find out yourself? My psychiatrist never mentioned those four different types, although in sweden we don

My psychiatrist diagnosed me with BPD, but didn't explain what it meant and I didn't have an idea really. So I did some research and among other things I found an article that explained Quiet BPD. It totally resonated with me. I talked about this with my two therapists and then again with the psychiatrist, and it was confirmed.

I am thrilled to meet a fellow European :)

@borderlinepenguin Hi hi, that makes a lot of sense because even though having a support system is wonderful, there's some things that are much easier to understand when you have BPD yourself.

I am also interested in studying languages, my main focus being French. I love Duolingo! Also, I've been binge watching Euphoria (2019) and am curious what show recommendations you have!

Feel free to reach out, I'd be happy to be your friend. :)
