New. Scared.
I am self diagnosing my self with bpd. Why? Every time I have gone to the doc. They dont think anything's wrong. My whole life would tell you other wise. I am an introvert and I want more from life but I am so scared.

Hey there Orange! 😃 Welcome to the community! We are all here to support you 💖 Doctors are often hesitant to diagnose BPD because it is a very serious mental health illness. It can feel very scary, upsetting, and frustrating when you feel like you have a disorder, only to be told nothing is wrong by a doctor. May I ask why you feel like you have BPD?
@sociableorange9914
Hey,
I myself haven't been officially diagnosed with bpd but I 100% know that I have it. All the mental health professionals have diagnosed me with depression which I know that I have as I have been suffering from it for 4 years now. Honestly, didnt know what was bpd until I recentley got told that I could have it as all of the symptons describe me. Haven't yet brought it up with a doctor which I am slightly afraid to do. Any advice?
@ec2000
Hey there EC 😃 In my experience, BPD is something that isn't really spoken about by professionals, and many professionals are hesitant to diagnose it. If you believe that you have it, it's something you might consider bringing up with your professional. If you choose not to, they may never bring it up. On the other hand, if you choose to bring it up, they may be able to diagnose you and/or offer treatment for your symptoms 💖

Hey there,
Thank you for the advice. Maybe if I bring it up to a doctor than I will be able to get the help that I need as I feel like I'm constantly going around in circles.
A quick question: Is bpd caused by a traumatic experience?
@ec2000
Hey there EC 💖 According to most professionals, BPD doesn't have a clear cause, but there are some risk factors associated with BPD, such as genes, environment, and biological factors.
You can read more about the specific risk factors here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/borderline-personality-disorder/causes/

Hey x
Thank you for the useful information and I hope that if I do get diagnosed with bpd that I will be able to cope and function efficiently in everyday life. At the moment, my mental health is affecting how I function and also my relationships with friends and family, but I'm optimistic that it will improve :)
