Scared of getting help

Hi, been diagnosed with bpd, ptsd & major depression. I'm receiving ketamine treatment at moment with is starting to help lift the depression, as antidepressants didn't work for me, but I'm still left with the horrible suicidal thoughts & self loathing. I have been advised by so many people to start therapy too, but the thought of actually going to therapy is overwhelmingly, paralysingly terrifying. I can't make myself go. I'm stuck trying to force myself to go as I'm told it should help, but I'm rooted to the ground. Any advice on how to get myself there greatly appreciated, thanks

Why does it terrify you to go?

My suggestion is to resolve to go just one time. I think you will find out that good therapists are gentle spirited people that understand that starting therapy is really hard for some. The first session is not one in which you have to bare your soul. (In fact you never have to bare your soul if you don't want to.) It's an introductory thing. Therapy isn't easy. It can though truly change your life. I'll be pulling for you.

I can understand being scared of therapy. I wasn't scared the first time, but when I met the therapist that seemed to be able to read my mind. I think what I was scared of was actually what I could find out about myself. Therapy, for me, is all about getting to know oneself and learning how to handle all the feelings. It's particularly hard when you think the other person knows you better than you do. But it's not true. A therapist is not there to tell you what to do. They are there to help you figure it out by yourself. I strongly recommend you try just once. Therapy changed my life for the better and I hope it will change yours too. My thoughts are with you.
