Splitting or multiple personalities??
So I was diagnosed with BPD but I think there’s more to it. Ever since I was around 13 I started hearing voices, an old man, old woman, younger woman, little girl and little boy. They don’t tell me to hurt myself or others. Half the time I can’t hear what they’re saying. I talk to myself out loud and if I ask a question something responds outloud in my voice but I wasn’t the one saying it. Sometimes I’ll dissociate and do things, talk with people then come back hours or days later and have no memory of anything. I’m not sure if I have multiple personalities or not but I’ll take any advice…
@goodAvocado1516 I agree with you that there might be more to it than just BPD. The things you describe do not match the descriptions of BPD that I've read. But we are not allowed to give medical advice here, and we are not experts anyway.
Perhaps whoever diagnosed you with BPD should be made aware of these voices, and then maybe they will consider adjusting your diagnosis.

Hello Avocado, I am sorry that you are experiencing these episodes but it is a fact that you do have something going on. Unfortunately, we are not able to answer the question of whether you are multiple or if it is some other condition. The only way to be sure of what you have is to go to a professional. They can give you a test or be able to evaluate you in a therapy session. I am sorry that we can not give you the answers that you are seeking. Don't give up, I know it may be hard to deal with or to understand what is happening to you.
If you have someone you trust that could possibly help you to find some help with this that would be great. For a fee, you could connect with a Therapist here who might be able to give you the answers you are seeking. On the home screen if you click on the Chat button a drop-down menu will appear. Click the Talk to a Therapist button to be connected to a Certified Therapist.
Hope things get better.
I was just worried about telling my dr because I don’t want it to sound like I’m making it up.

I totally understand, how you feel. Even in the professional field, there is still a lot of denial about DID and other conditions. There is not a whole lot of info out on the web about it. I was diagnosed with DID about 7 or 8 months ago. Prior to that, I had been treated for all types of disorders that did not help. however, more research is being done and more doctors and therapists are beginning to recognize this disorder.
Don't give up if your doctor does not take you seriously, keep searching till you find someone who will. Good luck on your journey
