Stealing identities?

I've had this really weird problem where whenever I have difficulties with someone I sort of start really liking their name and using it for myself.

I'm genderqueer and struggle with finding a name that fits

For example (example name)my friendship with Anna ended very painfully with her really hurting me

Suddenly I really like her name and use Anna for myself

The same thing happened with a bunch of other people

What could this mean? Can anyone relate?

@blisswax

It's really hard to know what's motivating you to want to take on the names of those you know without getting to understand you better, but at first glance, it seems like a form of experimentation. I think others may feel all sorts of ways about having their name used by another person, depending on their personality. There is a saying that imitation is the highest form of flattery, but not everyone will see it that way. I think it's more important to understand why you start to feel drawn to the names of others, when I'm sure you are fabulous in all of your own ways. Finding a name unique to you seems a great way to find yourself, but that's a personal opinion. It's a journey you are on, and I wish you all the best as you work it out. Talking to some other listeners may help you sort things out a bit more clearly!
