What are your thoughts? Did DBT help you? How do you remember all the skills you were taught? Do you use them in your day to day lives? And do you find it helpful for any anxiety, angry or depressive emotions?

I personally do not have any experience with DBT but I thought I'll bump up your post in case someone else hasn't seen it and could help. I also found this article 4 steps can help you choose psychotherapies that are supported by the evidence It's more of a doctor's approach to if it would benefit a patient but you may find some of it useful.

Good luck! heart

I use the DBT workbooks at home because there is no DBT where I live.. but I do find it very very very helpful if I use it everyday .. it's not magic and it doesn't all of a sudden make you be able to reflect on how to improve your emotions in the moment or to handle them and what to say/do instead of what you would normally do, but from what I've read over time and if you work hard you can get there

I've been to DBT group sessions a few times but stopped going because it would spike my anxiety to the point where I would physically shake uncontrollably because I was that anxious. The thought of sharing my experiences at the time made me nauesous especially since I had just met all of those people and they got to hear things not even my close friends knew. In regards to your question; I personally did not find it helpful but rather triggering... However, I encourage you to try it out since it may work out better for you than it did for me.

The only thing that really stuck with me was if I was losing my cool; to try to remain calm and count down from 10 to 1 in my head, taking deep breaths when/if angry, and removing myself from the situation if my feelings became stronger since I had struggled in the past with lashing out over the smallest things.

The majority of the time the therapist would hand out sheets with excercises to practice so we could better manage our BPD.. You could also ask for a handout if they don't initially give you any, they'd probably be more than happy to oblige.

Hope this helps~ heart
