Where does routine or structure begin?
Hi, everyone! Hope you are all well from the depth of my heart. Today I read a book about bpd and it made me think two things.
One, how much compassion I deserve. And everyone else with bpd. And also how important routine is. Unfortunately i haven't managed to keep any.
I would love to hear back about it. What is a small step I can take towards it realistically? Do you have something in your routine that helps you?
Thank you. ♥️

Hi there. 💜 I like what you've said about deserving compassion.
I have some routines for diet and exercise. The diet one has been helpful and the exercise one is too new to know whether it's helpful... but I assume it ought to be. 😊
For me, I guess before I'm able to start a routine, I have to convince myself that it's actually helpful or worth the trouble. There are a lot of things that I don't really try to control and they mostly go fine, so it sometimes feels like it isn't worth the anxiety of making myself follow a routine. There usually needs to be something wrong or something that I want to optimize where a routine feels necessary (e.g. "I feel like I need to exercise more, but I know I'm never going to do it unless if I come up with a routine for it").
Once I've decided I want to create a routine, it's a matter of figuring out the details and coming up with a plan that feels sustainable and like something I can actually see myself doing. And then just trying to be flexible/self-aware enough to notice if it isn't working or needs some adjusting/tweaking as I start following it.
