hello, i am new here so im not sure of what im doing but i hope it's something. i'll be 16 in a few weeks and i think i have bpd. i've been doubtful for years now probably but i'm sure now that what i experience isn't "normal". i pretty much experience every bpd symptom, or the most common ones, though i haven't gotten really risky yet, along with symptoms of depression. my dissociation and depersonalization are getting worse too. everyday is basically plagued with fear, that's the one emotion i can identify the most out of this mess, and i don't know how to regulate any of them.

then there's my partner, my fp.. i really don't want things to get bad with them. i hope my attachment to them isn't just because of a disorder but i don't know anymore...

i guess i'm trying to get better for them. my family doesn't know anything. they don't think there's anything wrong with me so they don't take me seriously. i though it would be good to reach out somewhere else... if you read this, thank you

Hi--welcome to 7 Cups. 💜 Sorry that everything has been feeling so fearful, that the dissociation has been getting worse, and that you don't feel like your family will take things seriously if you share what you're experiencing. Can also understand what you've said that you want to keep your relationship with your partner as happy and healthy as possible, and fearing whether that relationship has been heavily influenced by the BPD in certain ways.

Here's are a couple sites that have some ideas for different self-care and regulation type things you can do when things are feeling scary. (I like the first link a lot because the tips are all grouped by the type of feeling.)

my answer might be misleading/wrong, so please, don’t take it as a medical specialist’s opinion – these are just my thoughts

as someone who has experienced bpd since early teenage years i think parents really don’t see these symptoms as a problem, because some of them (like mood swings, for example) are common for all teenagers. and i think what actually compelled my own parents to put me into therapy was me talking about my _depression_ symptoms more; so, i got into treatment for depression first, and then, when my depression got better, i could focus on bpd with my therapist.

certainly everyone’s relationships w their parents are different, so i genuinely have no idea if it’s a good method, but i think therapy is the best kind of help you can ever get
