Good time zone, everyone!

Here is a lovely resource that I have found regarding the effects of the Avoidance Cycle.  I feel this is something that needs to be discussed.

Let us start with naming the different parts of the Avoidance Cycle:
1. Trigger
2. Thoughts/Feelings
3. Avoidance Behavior
4. Temporary Belief
5. Long-Term Consequences
6. Reinforcing Avoidance

What makes the Avoidance Cycle harmful?
* It creates delays or offers a way to pull away from people/places, and events.

What is some ways we can navigate through the Avoidance before it becomes a cycle?
* Here is a list that can help provide positive reinforcement
1. Naming the Triggers
2. Expressing the Negative thoughts/feelings openly, then releasing them
3. Find a new hobby or comfort coping skill to assist
4. Allowing the support system to help navigate through the feelings/thoughts
5. Reframing words such as affirmations and daily reminders
6. Setting a goal to push towards positive reinforcement

Remember it's always okay to take your time with positive reinforcement <3

@InsightfulPhoenix

thank you for sharing this, i really find myself struggling with this even now and it is so nice to just 'rest' in a cycle that provides temporal relief especially when doing other things feel so cumbersome
