DID ?
Hello..this is my first post. Hood I am posting this in the correct group. I was wondering if anyone has DID and what their symptoms are. If you are diagnosed, how was the process? Thank you in advance.
Funny, I just made a post about a system and then I see this. Great!
I have DID. I'm at a stable point now.
Symptoms- when I'm not stable parts switch very forcefully, depersonilization is strong, amnesic walls get stronger and more frequent. Not to mention triggers. It's kinda a hard to describe without giving examples of situations but I hope that helps.
Process of diagnosis- my system reached a point of making itself known very forcefully by me having what I call a medium switch during a very stressful time in my life, a very young child part came up. Some Dr's kept thinking it was a "panic attack" which it wasn't, I found a provider who was well versed in effects of trauma and knew about dissociation beyond what the dsm 5 4 3 2 1 says. Finding out I'm DID took time, it wasn't like a one two punch as it is for everyone.
Everyone's experience is diffrent, I encourage u to keep asking for people's experiences but live yours too. What I mean is don't get ever feel like just because ur experience doesn't check the box of most people's experiences doesn't mean it isn't valid or DID. 😉.
If you want to DM me for more details feel free( I think we can do that on here🤔)

Hello there Minivan88! How are you? :)
For what I know DID is defined as Multiple Personality Disorder in the ICD-10 (ICD-10 is the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems.)
It is a complex and chronic psychological state characterized by alterations of identities and ruptures in consciousness. It is generally described as “the presence of two or more separate distinct personality states”.
From my knowledge DID happens often because of past trauma and it has been a way to survive to it.
From my personal experience, I know that with DID the separate distinct personalities can also have different preferences and things they like/dislike. Do you see that happening to you too?
Hope you can find on here the support you are looking for!
