Identity Crisis //
i just realized that once I get a new friend I mirror them. but not in an obsessive way but more like if I really liked them
I’d want to be like them but more like I start mirroring them so much to a point where I don’t know what my personality is anymore and every time it feels like I’m a new person.. it feels like I don’t have an identity and I’m trying to steal someone else’s.
idk if any of that made sense..
can someone tell me if this is normal ?.

As far as i know it is a quite coomon thing, but it should be fixed, because it intercepts developing your own personality. It can be fixed with the help of a specialist or by yourself. It probably says your are more sensitive and that you strive to be accepted.

That makes sense, kind of like who you are changes depending on who you're trying to adapt to being around.
A lot of mental health stuff exists on a spectrum where most experiences are things that can happen normally. For example, it's normal for people to modify who they are based on their surroundings, to experience changes in values and self-concept if they do that enough, and to not have a completely fixed personality.
Something I've found helpful is just trying to understand who I *currently* am and work with that without attaching the project of "I need to figure out the long-term me"--and accepting that I might not be the same person in two weeks and that's okay and just how things are right now.
Another direction you could possibly go is to look at whether there are things about you that feel true when you're by yourself, things that feel like they happen pretty often across all of the different friendships, or thoughts/feelings that motivate you to do the mirroring in the first place (e.g. I want to get along with people and make friends).
